I chalk it up to learning from a young age to take care of my teeth and a little bit of luck too. So, my girls have always known that going to the dentist is really important. I love that it has been stressed in both of their preschool classes as well. We have always said that the dentist is a fun place. Our regular dentist office is nice, but it also feels very “old-manish.” Yep, I like to make up my own words. So while my girls like the dentist they have never gotten super excited either. I was thrilled with the idea of a pediatric dentist. My 4-year-old has a very funny bite (she was a binky baby) and I’ve had some concerns about her alignment that our previous dentist didn’t really answer. We were late for our appointment at Mountain View Pediatric Dentistry. We got a little lost, which was my fault because I didn’t check to see where it was located before we left and just trusted that the gps would get us there. Just a heads up, if you head to their Farmington location, it is tucked into the back of a office complex. Even though we were late, they were still super nice. My girls only had a few minutes to check out the fish before they got us right back for their appointments. One of my girl’s favorite part (and mine to be honest) of our visit was getting X-rays. This was such an easy process and it is so quick and painless. Not like I remember it from when I was a kid. We loved the digital pictures that popped right up as they were getting their X-rays. It was fascinating to see my 6 year olds X-rays. She hasn’t lost any teeth, but it looks like we are very close to her losing her top front teeth. Another fun milestone to look forward to! After the X-rays came the cleaning. My little 4 year old was a little concerned about the cleaning. She doesn’t like funny tastes (she is super picky) and funny textures bother her as well. But they were great about talking her through everything they were doing and she was all smiles. After the cleaning they got to pick out their new toothbrushes. And since this was their first visit they also got a timer, water bottle, floss, toothpaste, and a fun prize or two. Dr Sam was amazing with both my girls. He “counted their teeth.” And talked to them about brushing twice a day. He even explained the X-rays to each of my girls, which I loved! I think it is really cool when adults explain things to children. Dr Sam talked to my children and not just to me. This was new and I really appreciated it. We try to use every experience as a learning opportunity for our children and it was so nice that Dr Sam does the same thing. We’ve already made our appointments for their next visit in 6 months. I’m thrilled to have a pediatric dentist that my girls love and that gets my kids. Oh, and I mentioned my 4 year old and her weird little bite. Dr Sam noticed it right away and addressed all my concerns without me even having to bring it up. Loved it! I am following Mountain View Pediatric Dentistry on Facebook for sure so that I can follow along with all their fun events. And I even downloaded their app. A dentist with an app! So cool.
