So we found this really cool video on YouTube that gives a brief overview of how to take care of your child’s teeth. We at Mountain View Pediatric have seen children with every type of tooth condition. What we want to see more of is the parents’ ability to help their children keep their teeth clean and healthy from an early age.
We’re not quite sure who developed this video, but it gets the point across.
Just to give a recap, here are a few main points you should take from this.
- Make sure your child has a healthy diet. Lay off the junk food and acidic juices that have a lot of sugar. You can’t go wrong with milk or water.
- When helping your children learn how to brush their teeth, use a very small amount of toothpaste and make sure they don’t swallow it. Use small, gentle strokes from one part of the mouth to the other. And remember to brush once in the morning and once at night. Some people think it’s necessary to brush after every meal, but it’s not.
- You know why most people don’t floss today? Because they didn’t develop the habit when they were children. Please make sure your children are flossing when their brushing.
- Come see us often. We want to make sure we catch any problems before they happen.
