You’re probably concerned about that grinding noise you hear coming from your child’s mouth. From infants, to toddlers, to young children, teeth grinding is fairly common. Approximately 15-33 percent of children grind their teeth. There is, however, little reason to be concerned, as most children stop grinding their teeth as soon as their adult teeth fully grow in.
While you shouldn’t be too concerned, there are some things you can do to limit teeth grinding:
- Make sure your child drinks enough water. There are some studies that show dehydration causes teeth grinding.
- Decrease your child’s stress. Enhanced stress levels are often linked to teeth grinding.
- Have your dentist monitor your child’s teeth if they are aggressive teeth grinders.
